The dust cover notes read:
This book provides an introduction to a particularly attractive craft. Pleated paper folding consists in folding and opening out pleated strips of paper so as to make a variety of designs. The pleated strips can be formed into various fans — the flick fan, the tree fan, the rosette fan and many others — and these fans can then be combined to make birds and animals, such as an owl, a dog and a fish. By cutting the pleated strips a further range of figures can be formed and the adventures of such characters as Hiawatha and the Owl and the Pussycat can be told in a series of designs.
